Why it is fast
Nano has no blocks to wait for. Every account has its own chain, and a transfer is confirmed when representatives holding most of the voting weight vote for it โ usually within a fraction of a second. There is no fee auction, so a transfer never waits behind others paying more.

What "confirmed" means
On Nano, a confirmed transfer is final: it cannot be reversed or reorganised. On Bitcoin, a single confirmation can in rare cases be replaced, so exchanges wait for several blocks โ often an hour.
